Delete your StrayFinder account

You can request deletion of your StrayFinder account and associated data whether or not you currently have access to the app.

Email us from the address registered to your StrayFinder account. Use the subject “Delete my StrayFinder account.” We may ask you to verify account ownership before acting so another person cannot delete your account.

What is deleted

Deletion runs on our servers and is retried until it completes. It removes your Firebase Authentication account, your private and public profile, your posts and their photos, saved posts, the messages you sent, reports you filed, feedback records, push registrations, and your community memberships, interest, and participation. Communities you own are archived and upcoming activities you created are cancelled.

When you delete in the app, it also removes your post drafts from that device. Other local app data can be removed by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage.

What may be retained

• People you messaged keep the messages they sent. Your name is removed and you appear as a deleted account.
• Messages in a conversation that an open report refers to are kept until the report is resolved.
• Reports others made about you stay in our moderation records with the link to your account removed.
• If your account is banned or suspended when you delete it, we keep a one-way hash of your email address so the restriction also applies to a new account with that address.

Other limited records may be retained only where reasonably necessary for security, fraud and abuse prevention, dispute resolution, backup integrity, or legal obligations. Residual backup copies are isolated from normal use and expire through the backup lifecycle. Data that must be retained is no longer used for advertising.
